Education & Research
Equine-assisted therapy (hippotherapy) is endorsed and recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) as a treatment strategy within the scope of practice for specially-trained physical and occupational therapists.
NCEFT partners with universities throughout the country to offer equine-assisted therapy internships for physical and occupational therapy students. Internships are also available for licensed physical and occupational therapists wishing to specialize in utilizing equine movement as a treatment strategy. Please contact our Program Director, Chris Swan, at (650) 851-2271 or at Chris@nceft.org for further information.
