Volunteer Opportunities

All Volunteers are required to attend a general volunteer orientation/training before becoming an NCEFT volunteer.  Horse Leaders and Equine Program volunteers will attend an additional training to familiarize them with NCEFT equine policies

Lesson Volunteer:  Volunteers assist by walking next to riders (sidewalking) or leading horses during class.  Sidewalkers do not need any experience.  They provide physical and emotional support to the rider.  Horse Leaders assist in preparing horses for sessions (grooming and tacking), and are responsible for leading horses during class.  Horse Leaders need a general knowledge of horses.  All Lesson Volunteers should be willing and able to commit to coming the same day and time each week.

Equine Volunteer:  Volunteers work directly with barn staff to feed and care for the horses and the barn.  Volunteers in the equine program should be willing to commit to a specified, consistent period of time each week and must first attend a general volunteer orientation and training session.

Special Events:  Volunteers will serve on event committees and assist with production during the various fundraisers and special events that NCEFT holds each year.

Facility/Grounds:  Volunteers help with general maintenance, repairs and improvements of the facility, including fencing.

Special Skills: Volunteers who possess skills or professional/technical experience, such as photography, graphic design, computer knowledge, etc., are encouraged to contact us.

No matter what your skills or special talents may be, there’s a place and a need for them at NCEFT. For more information about volunteer opportunities and training sessions, please contact Corie Thompson, Volunteer Coordinator, via email at corie@nceft.org. Alternatively, Corie can be reached at 650-851-2271, Ext. 3.
